Jan. 5th, 2002 07:40 pmToday I had a really decent day. I woke up around noon, read email, had lunch.
Then I went down to NCIX with my system, and we managed to get it sorted out properly now. The guy at NCIX tech support mentioned they have had plenty of problems with Micron DDR ram on some of the older athlon boards, and he asked if I wouldn't mind swapping over to Nanya DDR ram instead. Of course I wouldn't mind! Nanya DDR ram costs more, and performs better! They swapped it in for free for me! Now the system is rock solid with 512MB of ram and running great!
Compared to the A-Power people I used to deal with, NCIX is really really good. I would now solidly recommend them to anybody, despite the fact that they are slightly more expensive than the alternatives.
Afterwards I went via staples to see about finding a desk and getting a graphing calculator of my own, since I have been using a borrowed one for some while now. I saw a fairly decent corner desk, but I need to make proper measurements of where I will be putting it first, before I actually make my choice. I need to decide between the two calculators as well, either a TI-83+Silver, or a TI-89. Going with the 83 means all my previos programs will work, and I don't need to learn how to use it again, but the 89 has proper symbolic manipulation which will be really useful to me.
